Oil Spill Response and Cleanup and Lung Function

DLH researchers Matthew Curry, John McGrath, and W. Jackson Braxton II are among the authors of an article in Environment International that evaluated the association between six potentially stressful oil-spill response and cleanup experiences (smelling chemicals, skin or clothing contact with oil, heat stress, handling oily plants/wildlife or dead animal recovery, and/or being out of regular work) and respiratory health and lung function among response and cleanup workers 1–3 years following the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Other authors of the article are researchers from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, Stewart Exposure Assessments, and Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
