Data Sciences and Analytics

DLH understands that data is the most important and powerful asset of any organization in helping to make important decisions.

Our analytic, statistical, and data management support capabilities are informed by a deep knowledge of the health and human services realms within which our customer’s work is conducted. DLH statisticians hold advanced degrees and have expertise in all facets of public health and human services data analysis.

We apply an iterative, prototype-driven delivery using Agile and DevOps methodology to design and implement all aspects of data analysis. Key elements of our approach include prioritization based on stakeholder requirements; use cases and usage-driven modeling; a test-driven approach for integrating legacy and external data sources; data quality analysis; and continuous integration and delivery of high-quality data and visualization features.

Statistical Programming and Data Management

The diversity of programs, clinical and epidemiology studies, and surveys conducted by our customers calls for a corresponding diversity of data management systems and approaches. One size does not fit all, and DLH data managers and statistical programmers provide fully customized analytic solutions to fit each customer’s needs.

We provide a full service network for working with data, including the quality control and management of data collected and stored, real-time collection of data in clinical and non-clinical settings, data cleaning and evaluation of unusual information, storing of information across multiple IT systems platforms, and imputation of missing information. Dashboard reporting allows DLH and our customers to present relevant data in an understandable and interactive manner. Ease of use, trustworthiness, real-time results, security, and flexibility are our priorities.

Scientific Data Analysis

DLH provides statistical and analytical expertise in clinical and nonclinical studies, including the analysis of clinical trials data from preclinical through Phase III studies, analysis of epidemiological and genetics data, mechanistic modeling and analysis of laboratory data, statistical model building and decision-analysis, and development of interactive IT-based software systems. Our statisticians apply their training in biomathematics, demography, and quantitative epidemiology to turn data into knowledge, working closely with our customers to publish frequently in the areas of survival analysis, time-series models, time-to-event models, spatial models, and decision analytics.

Health Informatics

Our data scientists use information science to organize and analyze personal health record data captured through funded medical research. We acquire medical data points collected from human interaction with medical devices and systems and analyze that data to better understand how information technology and methods of education improve health outcomes and operational readiness. Health informatics also support our clinical research, helping us develop best practice methods to improve clinical decision making in biomedical science.
