Careers at DLH

DLH has a culture of collaboration across teams, programs, and Operation Centers. This has led to innovation and creativity in solving our client’s most critical issues and driving their missions to success. This performance excellence is just one of our values within DLH. We pride ourselves on our diversity and inclusion and support of the communities where we work.

DLH is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package to our employees. Benefits are effective the first of the month following your hire date for employees who work 30 hours or more per week. We offer medical, dental, vision, short-term & long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, and many supplemental benefits including voluntary life, accident, and legal to name a few. We continue to add additional benefits, resources, and perks for our employees!

DLH recognizes the importance of work-life balance and strives to offer flexibility in our work arrangements. We assess each role individually to determine the feasibility of remote, hybrid or on-site work and tailor our approach accordingly. This will typically be listed on the job posting or if you are contacted by one of our Talent Acquisition Specialists then you can ask them about the possibility of remote work.

DLH is an organization that values learning. We strongly believe that investing in our employees’ development is beneficial not only to them but also to our clients and the company as a whole. That’s why we have a comprehensive online learning platform, supported by a dedicated Talent Development team, to ensure that we continue expanding our skills, abilities, knowledge, and capabilities. In addition, we provide financial support for tuition, licensure, and certification programs.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) represent DLH’s steadfast commitment to our workforce. DLH is embarked on a journey to assess, fortify, and embed DEIB into our enterprise operations, custom-designed by and for you. We ensure that DEIB continues to evolve and cater to our workforce by empowering our DEIB Council and Community Networks to foster crucial conversations, make informed decisions, and streamline processes for our business. In conjunction with our three-year DEIB Strategic Plan and our DEIB-focused recruiting and community engagement teams, DLH actively pursues a DEIB-centric workplace where everyone is encouraged to freely express and embrace their unique dimensions of diversity.

Yes, DLH does have an internship program. The positions have primarily been hybrid requiring a couple of days on-site allowing for interaction with management, the end client, and with fellow interns. DLH has great pride in the history of interns returning for multiple summers and several eventually being hired into full-time roles.  For current openings and more details, please check back in the February time frame when the intern openings should be posted.

Candidates can enter the recruitment process through various channels – direct application on the DLH Careers Page, through a job posting on a partner site, or referral. The TA Team does their best to review all resumes to determine who will proceed with the application process and the steps are as follows:

Application Review: The Talent Acquisition Specialist reviews the resumes and assesses skills, experience, and suitability for the role.

Phone Screen: If the resume meets the criteria after the initial review the TA Specialist will conduct a brief phone screen with the potential candidate(s). This will include basic questions to assess qualifications, experience, and interest in the position.

Hiring Manager Review: If the resume and phone screen results meet the requirements and the candidate is interested, then the TA Specialist will submit the resume and screening notes to the hiring manager for review. The hiring manager will notify the TA Specialist their interest in proceeding with the selected candidate(s).

Interview: If selected for an interview and depending upon the role, the candidate(s) may be scheduled for a panel or individual interview. The interview evaluates the specific knowledge, skills, and capabilities required for the position. Candidates are also evaluated on our company values for cultural fit. We have many technical roles, and the interview may involve solving problems, discussing case studies, or demonstrating your expertise via video or whiteboard.

Post Interview: Once the interview process is complete the candidate(s) will be notified of their candidacy. All candidates that interview will be notified by the TA Specialist of their status and if we are moving forward in the process.
